About Us

Morton Smith-Dawe Ltd is the leading supplier of certified seed potatoes to retail Garden Centres, Hardware Stores and Farmer Servicing Stores throughout New Zealand.

We are a family business owned and operated by Clive, Helen and Grant Dawe with 3 full time staff members and seasonal casual staff.

Our company was established in 1986 as a commercial seed potato business supplying to small to large commercial growers throughout New Zealand.

Grant joined the company in 2004 at which time we purchased Morton Smith’s potato business, that serviced the retail garden stores, and was well known in the industry.

Grant’s focus was for our business to service the home garden market where we could supply seed potatoes and other products to compliment our business.

We introduced small packs of fertiliser, broad beans and pea’s seed, garlic seed, yam seed, green crops and lawn seed. 

Our office and packhouse are based in Wigram Road, Halswell, Christchurch.
